Tacos from Scratch

Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon dried garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (I omit)
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (I omit)
  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
  • ¼ to ½ cup water
  • Taco shells or tortillas or lettuce leaves

  • subheading: Toppings:
  • Grated cheddar or cheddar jack mix
  • shredded lettuce
  • tomatoes
  • sour cream
  • taco sauce
  • refried beans
Steps
  1. Stir together seasonings in small bowl.
  2. In large skillet over medium heat, brown meat until cooked completely. Drain fat if necessary.
  3. Add the seasonings and water, stir to combine, and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and spoon into taco shells, adding toppings of choice.
