Sweet and Savory Green Beans with Garlic and Almonds
Prep time: 30 minutes.      Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients
  • 1.5 pounds of green beans, washed with ends trimmed
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Pepper
Steps
  1. Steam green beans for 3 minutes.
  2. In large skillet, heat 1 tablespoons olive oil and sauté 1 clove garlic. Add almonds and cook until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Reserve.
  3. In that same skillet, heat remaining 2 tablespoons oil with 2 clove garlic. Add green beans and toss them in oil and garlic mixture and let them fry lightly until crisp, bright green and maybe even lightly browned in some spots.
  4. Season with pepper.
  5. Transfer to serving dish and sprinkle with almonds.
