Pioneer Woman Spaghetti Sauce (recipe halved)
Ingredients
  • 2.5 pounds lean ground turkey/chicken breast (or lean ground beef)
  • 1.5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, seeded and diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup white wine (or low sodium broth)
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • ½ 14 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • ½ 4 oz can tomato paste
  • ½ jar low sugar store bought marinara sauce
  • ½ teaspoon ground oregano
  • ½ teaspoon ground thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon sweetener (to taste) or 1 packet Stevia
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
  • ¼ cup finely minced fresh parsley (or 3 tablespoons parsley flakes), more to taste
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • extra minced parsley, for serving
