Deep-Dish Brioche French Toast

  • ½ cup raisins
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of grated nutmeg
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • 4 tablespoons (2 ounces) melted butter
