Ingredients
- subheading: Filling:
- ¼ c. flour
- 1 Tbs. nutritional yeast flakes
- 1+ tsp. Garlic salt (or 1 tsp. salt & ¾ tsp. Garlic Powder)
- 1 pkg. firm tofu
- 2 Tbs. vegetable oil
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 c. chopped veggies (carrots, peas, broccoli, asparagus etc.)
- subheading: Golden gravy:
- ¼ c. flour
- ½ c. nutritional yeast flakes
- ⅓ c. oil/margarine
- 1.5 c. water
- ⅔ Tbs. tamari/braggs
- Toast flour & yeast in frying pan over medium heat "until there emanates a nutty aroma."
- Stir in oil (stir constantly from now until finished w/ gravy).
- Heat until oil is sizzly (this may be immediate).
- Stir in water, cook until thickened.
- Add tamari and salt/pepper as desired.
- subheading: Crust:
- 2 c. flour (i used ¾ all-p flour, ¼ whole wheat)
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1.5 sticks warm, unsalted butter (I used salted
- butter and left out salt)
- 3 Tsp. vegetable oil
- ¼ c. very cold water
- Cut butter into 1 cm cubes (quarter longwise then cut across).
- Add flour and mush together w/ butter (I use my very clean hands, a fork is less good).
- Add liquids and mix well. Roll out.
- Attempt to get the crust in one piece from the counter to the pie plate!
- 1 recipe makes top and bottom crust.
