Vanilla Rum Cake
Excellent rum cake
Ingredients
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 box instant vanilla pudding
  • ½ Cup of oil
  • ½ Cup of water
  • ½ Cup of dark rum - Meyers
  • 4 eggs
  •  
  • Rum sauce
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 stick of butter
  • ¼ C water
  • ¼ Cup rum
Steps
  1. Cake directions
  2. Mix all ingredients for 1 to 2 minutes according to box instructions
  3. Spread into well greased Bundt pan
  4. Bake 350° for 45 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Rum sauce
  6. When cake has about 20 minutes left to bake begin sauce.
  7. Bring butter, sugar and water to boil and boil for 1 minute. Stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly (5min). Stir in ¼cup of rum. Caution rum will cause pot to bubble. Let cool slightly while you remove cake from pan and poke holes all over cake top with skewer. Spoon rum sauce over cake a little at time so cake has time to absorb sauce.
Notes
  • Extra sauce can be set aside for serving if desired or continue pouring over cake. Allow cake to sit 1 to 2 hours before slicing. This cake gets better over time. Store in airtight container.
