  • Lotus and Other Seeds Tea
  • I’ve been making a Chinese tea/soup a lot lately to help ease the teenage skin troubles in our house. It really seems to help, and is also a light, refreshing breakfast for everyone else. My Chinese grandmother always seemed to have a variation of this in her kitchen whenever I visited as a child, and it was served either for breakfast or at the end of a meal as dessert. She told us that it was for clearing 'excess heat’ in the body and cleansing the digestive tract. I’m not sure what she would have thought of the crunchy green grapes that I threw in the bowl too, but they added a nice crunch and some extra sweetness to the subtle earthy flavors of the seeds. -
