Spicy Shortbread Nuggets
Ingredients
  • 1¼ cups flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ tsp. aniseed, crushed
  • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp. ground cloves
  • ⅛ tsp. ground cardamom
  • ½ cup butter
Steps
  1. Stir together flour, brown sugar, aniseed, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  3. Form mixture into a ball and kneed until smooth.
  4. Divide the dough into 12 portions.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion into a 10" rope.
  6. Cut ropes into ½ to 1" pieces.
  7. Place pieces ½-inch apart on an ungreased shallow baking pan.
  8. Bake at 325° for 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned.
  9. Remove cookies and cool on paper towels.
