Your basic cabbage and carrot slaw

Servings: 8 to 10

Servings: 8-10
Ingredients
  • 1 head green cabbage, shredded or one bag coleslaw mix
  • 2 to 3 large carrots, shredded (optional)
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt
Steps
  1. If adding extra carrots, soak carrots in cold water for 15 to 20 minutes. This will help prevent your coleslaw from turning orange.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sugar, buttermilk, vinegar, and salt.
  3. Add the cabbage to a large bowl. If adding extra carrots, add and toss to mix. Pour the dressing over the top of the cabbage and allow to soak down for a minute. Stir to mix the cabbage and dressing until well coated.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
