Your basic cabbage and carrot slaw

Ingredients
- 1 head green cabbage, shredded or one bag coleslaw mix
- 2 to 3 large carrots, shredded (optional)
- ¾ cup mayonnaise
- ⅓ cup sugar
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp salt
Steps
- If adding extra carrots, soak carrots in cold water for 15 to 20 minutes. This will help prevent your coleslaw from turning orange.
- In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, sugar, buttermilk, vinegar, and salt.
- Add the cabbage to a large bowl. If adding extra carrots, add and toss to mix. Pour the dressing over the top of the cabbage and allow to soak down for a minute. Stir to mix the cabbage and dressing until well coated.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
