Quick and easy method to perfect shrimp

Ingredients
  • Raw shrimp
  • 1 whole lemon per pound of shrimp
Steps
  1. Fill a large pot with enough water to boil the shrimp and put on high heat.
  2. Clean the outside of the lemons. Cut into quarters. Squeeze the juice into the pot followed by adding the wedges to the water.
  3. Once the lemon water comes to a boil, remove the pot from the heat and add the shrimp. Set a timer for 10 minutes (* See notes).
  4. After 10 minutes, remove the shrimp from the water. At this point, the shrimp can be chilled for a cold use or set aside for use in a hot dish.
Notes
  • Additional flavors can be added to the water if desired. Common options would be garlic, shallots, and even white wine.
  • This cooking method depends on the cold shrimp cooling the boiling water so that the shrimp do not overcook in the 10 minute time frame. Always ensure that the pot size used and the amount of water is an appropriate amount for the quantity of shrimp being cooked.
