Sweet and Spicy Carnitas Tacos
Ingredients

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder or pork butt
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup orange juice (about 2 oranges)
  • ¼ lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 3 tbsp hot sauce of chili sauce, like this or this, plus additional for topping
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 10 to 12 corn, almond flour, or chickpea flour tortillas
  • 2 to 3 limes, quartered for serving
  • subheading: For the avocado salsa:
  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled, pitted, & diced
  • 1 roma tomato, diced
  • ¼ cup finely diced red onion
  • ⅓ cup fresh chopped cilantro, packed
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
