Sausage, Mozzarella and Basil Stuffed Peppers

  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups ( 316 g) cooked white rice
  • 15 ounces ( 425.24 ml) canned tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces ( 226.8 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded (about 2 cups)
  • 3 tablespoons minced fresh basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 14 ounces ( 396.89 ml) canned beef broth
