Ingredients
- 1 cup + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup softened butter
- ¼ cup shortening
- 6 Tbsp white sugar
- 6 Tbsp brown sugar (packed)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp water
- 1 egg
- 6 ounces chocolate chips
- ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, shortening, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and water until creamy.
- Beat in the egg until well combined.
- Gradually add half of the flour mixture into the creamed mixture and beat until incorporated. Then, add the remaining flour mixture and stir by hand until evenly mixed.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving some space between each cookie.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
