Dessert—Simple Apple Galette Dough Recipe with Butter Rum Syrup
Ingredients

  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • ½ c. semolina flour (or corn flour)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 12 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • ½ c. ice water

  • 2 large baking apples (Pink Lady, for example), peeled, cut, cored and sliced into ¼-inch slices
  • ½ c. spiced rum
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • subheading: For the Butter Rum Syrup:
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • ¾ c. water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ c. spiced rum
