Ingredients
  • Chocolate Fudge Sheet Cake
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup shortening or oil
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Mix together sugar, flour, and salt. In a saucepan combine water, shortening, margarine, and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over flour mixture. Stir well. Beat eggs and buttermilk, soda and vanilla. Add to flour mixture. Stir well. Bake in a greased and floured deep cookie sheet (11x15) at 350 degree for 20 to 25 minutes or until done. While cake completes baking, prepare the topping.
  • Fudge Frosting
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 6 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 1 lb. sifted confectioners’ sugar
