Lentil Dal with Tofu 'Chicken'
Ingredients

  • 2 cups red split lentils rinsed
  • 1 green chilli halved
  • small piece ginger
  • ½ onion cut into 4

  • 2 tbs vegetable oil
  • 1 tbs fennel seeds
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 tbs mustard seeds
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • 2 tsp fenugreek
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 large onion chopped small
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 green chilli halved lengthways
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 3 large tomatoes cubed
  • 1 cup vegan cream
  • subheading: Tofu Chicken:
  • 1 tbs vegetable oil
  • 1 large block extra firm tofu water pressed out and torn into small chunks
  • 2 tbs soy sauce
  • 1 tbs garam masala
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • subheading: Serve with:
  • rice
  • salad
  • chutney
