Baked Potato, Steak House Style
This is not really a recipe but more of a method!
Source: www.tasteslovely.com/steakhouse-style-baked-potato/
Ingredients
  • Russet Potatoes
  • Olive Oil
  • Kosher Salt
  •
  • subheading: Optional Toppings:
  • Butter
  • Sour Cream
  • Fresh Chives, snipped
  • Salt and Pepper
Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees with the oven rack in the middle. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Scrub potatoes and pat dry. Do NOT poke any holes into the potatoes.
  3. Pour some olive oil into a small bowl. Dip potato into oil and, using your hands, spread olive oil to coat entire potato. Place on prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining potatoes.
  4. Coat all sides of each potato with a generous amount of salt. Don't be shy here!
  5. Place the baking sheet into the oven and roast the potatoes until they are soft when you squeeze them with your hand. The baking time will depend on the size of your potatoes, but usually 45 minutes - 1 hour.
  6. When you take the baked potatoes out of the oven, using an oven mitt pick them up and, one by one, drop them back onto the baking sheet from 10" up. By dropping it, you loosen the inside of the potato so it is light and fluffy inside when you cut into it.
  7. Cut a slit down the length of the baked potato, pinch the edges together to make the opening bigger, and fill the baked potato with desired amount of the optional toppings.
