Best Ever Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce
Ingredients
  • 1loaf stale french bread, if it's fresh, leave it out overnight so it will get dry, cut into 1-inch cubes (yes, the quality and dryness of the bread really matter!)
  • 2 ½cupsheavy cream
  • 1 ½cupsmilk
  • 3large eggs
  • 2cupssugar
  • 2Tbspgood vanilla extract OR 1 vanilla bean, sliced and scraped
  • 3Tbspbutter, softened
  • pinchof salt
  • subheading: Optional:
  • 1cupraisins
  • 3 to 4TbspBourbon or whiskey(your choice-I like to use Jack Daniels which is a whiskey)
  • subheading: Bourbon Sauce:
  • 1stickbutter
  • 1cupsugar
  • 1large egg
  • ½cupbourbon (add slowly, adjust to taste)
