Allgau Specialty Onion Cake

  • ½ cube fresh yeast or dry yeast (depending on the yeast you use see instruction on package, normally it is 1 package yeast for 500g flour)
  • 1 dash sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 150 ml warm water or 100ml water and 50 ml light beer
  • subheading: Topping:
  • 1 kg onions
  • clarified butter
  • 100 g smoked bacon (preferably German Speck)
  • pepper, caraway seeds, salt to taste
  • 2 eggs
  • 200 g creme fraiche
  • 75 g grated cheese
  • caraway seeds if you like
