Ingredients
- subheading: CAKE:
- 1 C. Water
- ½ C. Butter
- ½ C. Shortening
- 4 T. Cocoa Powder
- 2 C. Flour
- 2 C. Sugar
- 1 t. Baking Soda
- ½ C. Buttermilk
- 2 Eggs
- 1 t. Vanilla
- subheading: FROSTING:
- ½ C. Butter
- 6 T. Milk
- 3 T. Cocoa Powder
- 1 lb. Powdered Sugar
- 1 t. Vanilla
Steps
- subheading: CAKE:
- Bring butter, shortening, cocoa powder and water to a boil, then turn off heat.
- Mix together flour, sugar, and baking soda, then add to butter mixturenand stir to combine.
- Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
- Pour into greased 9x13 pan.
- Bake at 375° F. for 30 to 40 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
- subheading: FROSTING:
- Bring butter, cocoa powder, and milk to boil.
- Add powdered sugar and stir to desired consistency.
- Add vanilla and mix in.
- Pour over cake while still hot. Leave to cool.
Notes
- Best served next day as cake compresses and everything gets "fudgey."
