Classic French Madeleines
This recipe is for basic, vanilla madeleines. I think they’re usually flavored with things like lemon zest or other citrus flavors, floral flavors like rose water and lavender, and sometimes mini chocolate chips. The most common toppings are a simple glaze or a dusting of powdered sugar! I have this fun little dusting wand from oxo, so I went with powdered sugar here.
Ingredients
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp lemon zest (optional)
  • powdered sugar for garnish
