Copycat Good Seasons Dressing Mix
If making this to be used in my 3-Packet Slow Cooker Pot Roast recipe, I only mix up 1/3 of this recipe.
Source: bakeatmidnite.com/copycat-good-seasons-italian/
Ingredients
  • subheading: Dressing Mix:
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Onion Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Dried Oregano
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1⁄ 4 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1 tablespoon Dried Parsley
  • 1⁄ 4 teaspoon Whole Celery Seed
  • 1⁄ 2 teaspoon Kosher Salt, (See Note 1 below)
  •
  • subheading: Prepared Dressing:
  • 2 tablespoons Prepared Dressing Mix
  • 1⁄ 4 cup White Vinegar
  • 2⁄ 3 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Water
Steps
  1. Mix all Dressing Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container.
  2. To prepare the dressing: Place vinegar, oil and water in a small container with a tight-fitting lid. Add 2 Tablespoons of the prepared Dressing Mix. Shake vigorously to combine.
Notes
  • 1: Original recipe called for 2 Tablespoons of Kosher salt but many people following a similar recipe on Allrecipes noted it was too salty. I also use this in my 3-packet Slow Cooker Pot Roast where there are plenty of other ingredients with quite a bit of sodium so I have reduced the salt considerably. You can always add salt if necessary when making it up as a salad dressing.
  • 2: For "zesty" variety, add a pinch (scant ⅛ tsp) of red pepper flakes. Add more if you like it really zippy.
  • 3: For intensely garlic flavor, add 1 tsp dehydrated minced garlic to the mix.
