Italian Beef Sandwiches

  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ tsp oregano
  • 1 ½ tsp basil
  • ½ tsp rosemary
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • subheading: For the sautéed peppers: (optional):
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 2 medium green or red bell peppers, sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • subheading: For the sandwiches:
  • 6 to 6” crusty rolls
  • Sliced Provolone, Mozzarella or cheddar
  • Giardiniera or pepperoncini peppers (optional)
