Chocolate Sauce
Homemade version of what comes in a bottle for an ice cream topping or chocolate milk

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups water
  • 1½ cups white sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • Dash of salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
Steps
  1. Combine water, sugar and cocoa in a saucepan.
  2. Heat on medium until everything is dissolved.  Stir occasionally.
  3. When everything is combined and smooth, mix cornstarch with enough water to make a slurry.
  4. Add salt and slurry to cocoa mixture.
  5. Slowly bring mixture to a boil, allowing it to thicken.  When smooth and glossy, remove from heat.
  6. Allow to cool for 10 or more minutes, then stir in Vanilla.
  7. Cool and keep refrigerated.
