Basic waffles

Servings: Makes six large waffles.

Servings: Makes six large waffles.
Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ Cups Milk
  • Two eggs separated
  • 6 tablespoons melted butter
Steps
  1. Preheat waffle iron to moderately high heat.
  2. In large mixing bowl, sift together dry ingredients.
  3. Mix egg yolks, milk. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just moistened. Add melted butter, mix just until blended.
  4. Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks. Fold in egg whites into the batter, gently.
  5. Pour ⅔ C. of batter to waffle iron. Let cook for five minutes. Waffles should be golden brown. Adjust heat if needed.ded.
