Dutch Apple Pie with Sour Cream Custard
Ingredients
  • 1 single-crust blind baked All-Butter Pie Dough shell
  • 2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into ½-inch pieces (I like Granny Smith)
  • ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ⅛ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla paste (feel free to sub extract)
  • subheading: Walnut Streusel:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup finely chopped walnuts
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch kosher salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
