(540) How to Crochet Granny Stitch Turtleneck Poncho or Neck Warmer
Ingredients
  • Hi Everyone!
  • Granny stitches are so easy, fun & popular!
  • How cute is this granny stitch turtleneck poncho! You can also make a mock turtleneck to wear under a jacket! I just love this and it's super easy! It's a granny square stitch and so easy! Hope you like it!
  • Turtleneck poncho
  • Yarn Bee Sugarwheel in Pixie Twist
  • 2 skeins ( buy 3 or 4 if you want it longer)
  • Size I/9 or 5 ½ mm hook
  • FPDC = front post double crochet
  • BPDC = back post double crochet
  • STS = stitches
  • SP = space
  • Collar
  • Chain 70 (if you want it for larger sizes you can increase in increments of 4)
  • note: *Please note that if you change the size of the collar, the pattern will vary in stitch count in all rows. If you are proficient at crochet this should be a breeze)
  • Round 1
  • Dc in 4th ch from hook & dc in each ch, join w/slip stitch in top of ch 4  (68 dc)
  • (You can join loose end and weave in)
  • Round 2
  • Ch 3 (always counts as 1st fpdc)
  • Fpdc in next st, bpdc in next 2 sts, fpdc in next 2 sts, repeat around and join w/sl st to top of ch 3
  • Round 3 to 8 (you can make this collar height as tall as you'd like)
  • Ch 3, always fpdc in fpdc and bpdc  in bpdc
  • Round 9
  • Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in the next st, rep around and  join w/sl st in top of ch 1 (103 or 104 sc, it could vary)
  • Round 10
  • Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join w/sl st to top of ch 2 (total of 104 hdc)
  • Round 11 & 12
  • Ch 3 (always counts as 1st dc) & turn your work, 2 dc in same sp, sk 2, 3 dc in next st, rep around, join w/sl st to top of ch 3.
  • Round 13
  • Ch 3 & turn your work, 2 dc in same sp, skip 2, 3 dc in next sp, rep until you have 18 of the 3 dc, then ch 2 and make 18 more 3 dc clusters
  • Round 14 to 36 (or more if longer style desired)
  • Always ch 3, turn and 2 dc in same sp), repeating with 3 dc in every open space.
  • Weave in your ends
  • Purple Poncho yarn is Hobby Lobby's Yarn Bee Sugarwheel Cotton in Velvet Violet (2 skeins)
  • Blue poncho yarn is Mandala in the color Spirit (I used 2 skeins)
