Strata with Sauteed Summer Vegetables
Ingredients
  • Butter (for the dish)
  • ½ large loaf (½ pound) unsliced crusty bread
  • Olive oil (for sprinkling)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 small zucchini, thickly sliced
  • ½ pint cherry tomatoes, each pricked once with a knife
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme or oregano
  • 4 ounces Gruyere cheese, shredded
