Crockpot Chili (Modified from Mom's)
Ingredients
  • 1 lb hamburger (or substitute)
  • 1 can pinto beans (white with juice)
  • 1 can kidney beans (drained)
  • 1 can chili beans (with juice)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 can (15 oz.) whole tomatoes (chopped with juice reserved)
  • 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
  • ½ C. water
  • 2 to 3 T. chili powder
  • 2 t. salt
  • 1 t. oregano
  • 1 t. cumin
  • ¼ t. pepper
Steps
  1. Brown hamburger, onions, and garlic together until onions are translucent, then drain and put in slow cooker with beans.
  2. In separate bowl, mix tomatoes, tomato paste, and seasonings together until well mixed. Stir into the meat/beans mix in the slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 3 ½ to 4 hours, or low for 7 to 8 hours.
  4. Instantpot: Cook on low pressure for 25 minutes with extra ½ C. water.

  • 2751 calories for whole recipe (about 12x 1-cup servings) = 229 calories
