Sesame Crusted Cauliflower with Pomegranate Ponzu Sauce

  • 2 medium heads of cauliflower, each cut into 2 to 3 (1 ½ inch) steaks
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • ⅓ cup raw sesame seeds
  • kosher salt and black peppers
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • extra virgin olive oil, or sesame oil, for brushing
  • subheading: POMEGRANATE CITRUS PONZU SAUCE:
  • ½ cup low sodium soy sauce
  • ⅓ cup freshly squeezed clementine or orange juice
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 inch fresh ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • seeds from 1 pomegranate
  • fresh cilantro for serving
