  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ½ cup grass-fed butter (1 stick)
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 ½ cup peeled, cored, and chopped apples
  • subheading: For the Crumble Topping:
  • ⅔  cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoon butter-cold and cut into small pieces
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Optional: Caramel sauce for drizzling over cooked muffins
