Aunt Mary Mellow’s Ginger Snaps

Old family Recipie. Aunt Mary was Grandpa Roberts [Claude Roberts] favorite aunt. She made these cookies just for him because he liked them. When any of the children came to visit,she always had cookies in her house for them.

1 Cup Sugar

1 Cup Lard

½ Cup Molassas

2 tsp Ginger

2 tsp Cinnamon

1 tsp Salt

1 Egg

2 tsp Soda

½ Cup Water (warm - Winter Cool Summer)

Enough flour to make a stiff dough (4 to 5 cups)

Combine ingredients in order given.

Dissolve soda in water - add with flour to creamed mixture.

Roll & cut on floured board.

Bake on cookie sheets in quick oven.

Sprinkle with sugar .

A quick oven is usually 375*- 400*
