Big Batch Chinese Beef
Ingredients
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2kg braising beef, chopped into bitesize chunks
  • 5 tbsp plain (all-purpose) flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 2 large onions, peeled and chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 2 tbsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp Chinese five spice
  • 1 litre (4 cups plus 3 tbsp) beef stock
  • 120ml (½ cup) soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp soft brown sugar
  • 200g (approx 30) button mushrooms
  • 1 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
  • Sliced spring onions (scallions)
