Servings: 3 tubes
Servings: 3 tubes
Ingredients
- 3 lip balm tubes
- 2 drops peppermint essential oil
- 5 grams coconut oil
- 9 grams shea butter
- 3 grams wax
Steps
- Before you start, unwind the chapstick to completely lower push plate.
- Set scale to grams, this makes it easier to work in small batches. Fill a small pan with ⅓ of water and bring to a simmer.
- Weigh the empty container you will be using to mix ingredients. I like to use a pint size mason jar. Weigh the empty mason jar and write down its weight. This is tip will save a lot of frustration if your digital scales goes off in the middle of weighing out your ingredients.
- Add coconut oil to the jar until you reach the desired weight, and write down this number.
- Stir them together, if the coconut oil is still solid, then place the jar in the simmering water to melt the oil. The coconut oil melts very quickly.
- Then return the jar to scale and add the remaining ingredients. Return the jar to the simmering water and let everything melt. Lightly stir until everything has melted, this generally takes 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add essential oil.
- Work fast because the oil begins to harden quickly. A container with a pour spout works best to fill the tubes.
