Modified Chinese brown sauce

Ingredients
  • ¾ cup beef broth
  • 1 ¼ tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (or potato starch)
Steps
  1. Combine broth, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and cornstarch in a saucepan. Whisk to mix well and ensure there are no lumps of cornstarch.
  2. Bring to a simmer while stirring periodically
Notes
  • Depending on the veggies and protein being used, you can also add ½ teaspoon cinnamon, 1 to 2 tbsp crushed pineapple, and/or 1 to 2 cloves of garlic, minced.
  • If oyster sauce is an issue, you can also substitute fish sauce for the flavor.
