A family recipe over a century old

Ingredients
  • 4¼ c flour
  • 4 tsps baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter or ½ cup Crisco & ½ cup oleo ( margarine )
  • 1 ½ cups currants, washed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
Steps
  1. Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening as you would for pie crust. Sprinkle currants over mixture. Wet with combined egg & milk mixture. Roll on floured board using floured rolling pin & cut with round cutter. Bake on ungreased griddle.
  2. NOTE: Bake as you would for pancakes
