  • Recipe from Momas place in Iowa Park Texas in 1992 ! This recipe goes back to my great great Grandma. She  made it from scratch & now I do, it is the best pie ever.  if you make more than 1 at a time you can double & triple this recipe as I do. I make the pie filling for 7 pies at a time, I will make 2 and freeze the rest. add 3 or 4 cups of pie filling to a quart size ziplock & freeze. Just pull out & thaw put in pie crust & bake as directed.
  • Original recipe makes 1 to 9 inch pie
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
  • 2 cups cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp groung cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
