Grandma Accardi's Italian Christmas Cookies
Ingredients

  • 8 Cups Flour
  • 2 ¼ sticks butter softened
  • 8 Large Eggs
  • 8 Teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 Teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 Teaspoons Anise extract
  • 1 ½ Cups sugar

  • 1 Cup confectioner's sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 2 Tablespoons of water
  • ¼ Teaspoon Anise extract
Steps
  1. Grease cookie sheets. Preheat oven to 350.°
  2. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla and anise extracts.
  3. Mix together flour with baking powder and blend well.
  4. Add flour to wet ingredients.
  5. Take a small amount of better and roll into a pencil shape, and roll up to make a "bee hive" shape.
  6. Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly browned.
  7. Cool, ice and shake colored sprinkles on top
