No-Cook Cinnamon Ornaments
This recipe is so simple to prepare, and I love that kids can paint the ornaments once they are dry. They dry light in color, giving kids a perfect canvas to create!
Ingredients
  • 1 cup of flour
  • ½ cup of salt
  • ½ cup of cinnamon  (use $1 store cinnamon)
  • ¾ cup of very warm water
  •
  • Other Materials Needed
  • Cookie cutters
  • Wax paper
  • Acrylic paints (optional)
Steps
  1. Other Materials Needed
  2. Cookie cutters
  3. Wax paper
  4. Acrylic paints (optional)
  5. Once combined remove the dough from the bowl, and knead it with clean, dry hands.
  6. If the dough is at all sticky dust your hands with flour and knead it into the dough.
  7. After a bit of mixing & kneading you will be left with amazing cinnamon ornament dough!
  8. Give kids cookie cutters and rolling pins, and they will have a blast making their very own cinnamon ornaments.
Notes
  • A Few Tips for Making Cinnamon Ornaments
  • I recommend rolling the cinnamon dough out on wax paper to prevent sticking.
  • Be sure to pierce a hole in the ornaments before leaving them to dry.  This makes stringing them onto the tree much easier!  To do this we used a toothpick. Once dry kids can embellish the ornaments using acrylic paint, or you can simply hang them from the tree as they are.   We made two batches of this easy ornament clay, and that allowed us to make roughly 20 ornaments.  We hung some of them without painting them but most were painted by Rosie and Jewel the next day.
