Creamy Italian Sausage Pasta (Pan to Table)

  • ½ pound sweet Italian sausage, remove casings
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ½ cup pinot grigio (white wine)
  • ¾ cup cream
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • ½ pound rigatoni
  • ½ cup fresh parmesan, grated
  • ¼ cup fresh basil, sliced thin
  • ¾ cup pasta water for making the sauce creamy
  • French gray coarse salt, fresh ground black pepper to taste
