Better Than Mexican Restaurant White Queso
Ingredients
  • WHITE AMERICAN CHEESE!
  • That’s right. The secret to that delicious white magma is not some exotic spanish cheese imported from Guadalajara - just straight up, plain old white American cheese! After discovering this super easy and delicioso recipe, it takes all of my strength not to eat an entire bowl to myself. It’s really that good. Enough with the chatter though, let’s get to this easy peasy & oh so cheesy recipe.
  • To start this wonderful concoction, you will need the right ingredients - starting with the most important ingredient - the cheese!
  • Make sure you go to the deli counter and ask for 1lb of white American cheese - Boar’s Head is the best - but the cheapest brand really is just as good!(I have yet to find white American packaged, so yes - you will have to get it from the deli.) I usually ask for one large piece or big chunks - no need to have it sliced.
  • Now that you have the cheese, you’ll need to shop around for
  • milk (I used whole milk, but any kind will do),
  • jalapeños (we had some sliced ones that I chopped up, but a 4 oz. can will do)
  • 4 oz. can of diced green chiles (any brand)
  • AND THAT’S IT! So simple, so few ingredients, but so good!
  • Start by breaking up the cheese chunks into many smaller chunks - feel free to use a knife if you like - I, however, will use my hands. (They’re clean, I promise!)
  • Next, measure out ½ cup of milk and ⅓ cup of water to add to the mix!
