Tomato and Mozzarella Tart

Ingredients
  • unbleached all-purpose flour , for work surface
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed in box in refrigerator overnight
  • 1 large egg , beaten
  • 1 ounce grated parmesan cheese (about ½ cup)
  • ½ lb plum tomato , cored and cut crosswise into ¼-inch-thick slices (about 3 to 4 medium)
  • table salt
  • 1garlic cloves , minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ground black pepper
  • 4 ounces whole-milk mozzarella cheese , shredded (1 cups)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
