Mom's Simple Half-Pound Cake
Ingredients
  • ½ lb butter (soften)
  • 6 oz sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1.5 cups flour
  • 2 tb spoon baking powder
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • mixed essence (optional)
  • grated orange rind (optional
Steps
  1. cream butter and sugar
  2. add eggs one at a time
  3. add some essence and grated orange rind (takes the freshness out of the egg)
  4. add flour a little at a time (don't beaet for too long, just make sure all the ingredients are well mixed)
  5. add the baking poweder and fold it in with a wooden spoon
  6. fold in milk
  7. take some soft butter and rub it inside the cake pan the nthen sprinkle some dry flour all around it so the cake doesn't stick when it's finished
  8. bake at 350 for 35 mins (you will see the cake looking loose around the pan)
  9. stick a thin knife down in the center and if it's finished it will come out clean
  10. don't overcook or else it will come out dry
