Chicken Divan
This was an old family recipe (probably other similar recipes online, but this is how my family makes it)

Servings: 6

Servings: 6
Ingredients
  • 1.5lb-2lb chicken, cooked and shredded
  • 1 large crowns broccoli
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or 6 cheese singles)
  • 1 12oz can condensed milk (or could try 1 cup milk)
  • 1 10.5oz can cream of chicken soup
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (no seasonings in original recipe)
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ¼ tsp seasoning salt
  • 1 small container of french's fried onions (sprinkles on top)
  • 2 cups rice (for serving)
Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cook da rice.
  3. Place broccoli in a large pot boiling water and cook 2 to 3 minutes or just until tender crisp.  Drain well.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup cheddar cheese, milk, condensed soup, and seasonings. ( if using cheese singles, lay cheese over top of the chicken and broccoli and pour sauce over the cheese.
  5. Stir in broccoli and chicken and spread into a 3qt casserole dish (or a 9x13 pan).  Top with remaining cheese.
  6. Sprinkle the fried onions on top, as much or as little as you want. Bake for another 5 minutes.
  7. Bake 18 to 20 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are lightly browned and the mixture is bubbly and hot.
  8. Serve over rice.
Notes
  • You could use rotisserie chicken to save time from cooking the chicken.
  • Highly recommend using the original recipe. The new modifications tasted so bad.
