Chicken Divan
loading...
This was an old family recipe (probably other similar recipes online, but this is how my family makes it)
Servings: 6
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- 1.5lb-2lb chicken, cooked and shredded
- 1 large crowns broccoli
- 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or 6 cheese singles)
- 1 12oz can condensed milk (or could try 1 cup milk)
- 1 10.5oz can cream of chicken soup
- ½ tsp garlic powder (no seasonings in original recipe)
- ½ tsp pepper
- ¼ tsp seasoning salt
- 1 small container of french's fried onions (sprinkles on top)
- 2 cups rice (for serving)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Cook da rice.
- Place broccoli in a large pot boiling water and cook 2 to 3 minutes or just until tender crisp. Drain well.
- In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup cheddar cheese, milk, condensed soup, and seasonings. ( if using cheese singles, lay cheese over top of the chicken and broccoli and pour sauce over the cheese.
- Stir in broccoli and chicken and spread into a 3qt casserole dish (or a 9x13 pan). Top with remaining cheese.
- Sprinkle the fried onions on top, as much or as little as you want. Bake for another 5 minutes.
- Bake 18 to 20 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are lightly browned and the mixture is bubbly and hot.
- Serve over rice.
Notes
- You could use rotisserie chicken to save time from cooking the chicken.
- Highly recommend using the original recipe. The new modifications tasted so bad.
